About Brighton Therapy Service

Brighton Therapy Service provides short and long term psychotherapy to adults, children and young people. We also offer supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists and  workshops and training to other professionals. In addition the BTS website intends to provide people with helpful information about Integrative Arts Psychotherapy and Integrative Child Psychotherapy.

What is Integrative Arts Psychotherapy?

Integrative Arts Psychotherapy (IAP) is a form of psychotherapy which supports people in exploring their issues in a number of ways without always having to rely on words. Giving you, the client choices and options in how you want to express yourself. Some people may feel more comfortable just talking whereas others may find it more comfortable and helpful to use the art medium of painting or drawing. This approach is flexible and adaptive to individual needs and therefore the work is tailored rather than a, ‘one size fits all approach’

Art forms include:

  • Painting
  • Sandtray
  • Movement
  • Puppets
  • Clay
  • Music
  • Bodywork

*Please note you do not need to be artistic to use these art forms as the emphasis is on exploration and expression.

Integrative Arts is predominantly a Humanistic approach   which draws upon a variety of theoretical models. This enables the therapist to respond and support you in a way that meets you individually.
